Booking Terms and Information

Old Rectory Howick

Arrival and Departure times:

Arrival – we shall be happy to greet you any time between 4.30 and 6.30 p.m. If you are going to be earlier or later than this, please ring us so we can arrange to greet you properly.
Departure - we ask that rooms are normally vacated by 10.00 am on your last day (Sundays 11.00 am) so that we can have time to make the rooms ready for new guests arriving.

Minimum deposits:

Please note the minimum deposit is the price of the first night's stay. This deposit is usually non-refundable however we will of course understand if your trip has been curtailed by Covid-19 regulations.

Payment of your account - Cash, Credit and Debit Card (including American Express) or by Cheque. We are only able to accept cheques drawn on UK banks.
Please make your cheque payable to “Old Rectory Howick”.

Cancellation Policy:

In the event of a cancellation less than 3 days before arrival, the cost of the first 2 nights is required, however all efforts will be made to re-book the room and the money refunded. Deposits are non-refundable unless you are unable to travel because of Covid-19 restrictions or government advice.. We recommend you use holiday insurance. (See cancellation insurance at bottom)

Special Diets:

We are happy to accommodate special diets with advance notice from you. We offer vegetarian and vegan options on both our breakfast and dinner menus and can also provide gluten free and non dairy options.  Please do let us know if you are allergic to any foods.


The Old Rectory is a Georgian building and all bedrooms are located on the first floor with a main stair case and then additional stairs to each bedroom.  Our family suite rooms 'Rose' and 'Suzie' have a private bathroom which is across the hall from the hall with steps in between.  Unfortunately none of our rooms are suitable for people with limited mobility.

No Smoking:

To comply with the law and in consideration to all of our guests the whole house is non-smoking


Our cats don't go into guest bedrooms but they are often seen in our reception rooms.  We make every effort to ensure these rooms are fur free but our accommodation may not be suitable for you if you have an allergy to cats.


We have to make a charge equal to the cost to us for any damages caused by our guests.

Cancellation Insurance:

We would recommend that you consider taking out holiday insurance to cover the period of your holiday/booking; this safeguards both yourself and us in the event you are unable to take up your booking.
